Snowfall warning for Sea to Sky Highway

Staff report
January 31, 2021 10:44am

A snowfall warning is in effect for Sea to Sky Highway.

As much as 15 to 25 cm snow can be expected by this evening, with more snow on the way for Monday.

A moist pacific front is producing heavy snow over Whistler and the Sea to Sky highway north of Squamish. The snow will taper off this evening as the front moves to the east and out of the region.

However, another system is forecast to move over the area on Monday with additional snowfall amounts possibly exceeding 15 cm.

“Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations,” says Environment Canada.

Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions, the agency adds.

Road conditions are available at www.drivebc.ca.
