Harbour Air is moving forward with its plans to build a float plane dock at Oceanfront Squamish.

The company hopes to begin service in 2021.

Harbour Air has applied for a development permit for a 30 metre float plane dock, ramp, and small wharfhead at the Oceanfront Squamish.

The company also plans to create four temporary parking stalls.

Harbour Air will initially serve downtown Vancouver and Victoria, and offer private charters.

According to the district, the application can be approved by the General Manager of Community Planning, and doesn’t need to go before council. As a result, a public hearing will not be held.

Harbour Air held an online public information meeting from August to September last year.

The company also met with the district staff and with board members of the Windsports Society to discuss their concerns.

Harbour Air has also applied to Transport Canada to get necessary approvals for the dock.

The company currently operates 16 routes across BC.

“We are looking forward to supporting the community’s ongoing development and helping welcome travellers, commuters and adventures alike to the “Adventure Capital of Canada,” says Daren Clark, Whistler Base Manager and Training Captain for Harbour Air Group.

Does this comply with noise bylaws and the direction Squamish wants to go? It will be very noisy and lower property values in the area!!!
