85-year-old Vancouver man wins $1 million on Lotto Max ticket

Staff report
February 16, 2021 2:28pm

Yee Mon Gin says he has a deep love for cruises and has taken half a dozen thus far, making them one of his favourite things to do.

After winning a cool $1-million MAXMILLIONS prize from the Lotto Max draw on October 30, 2020, he looks forward to setting sail again once it’s safe to do so.

The Vancouver resident enjoys playing Lotto Max with Quick Pick numbers and purchased the winning ticket from 88 Supermarket on Victoria Drive. It was there that he checked his ticket with a retailer.

“I couldn’t think of anything,” he recalled. “I was in shock!”

Gin couldn’t wait to share the life-changing news with his son, who was equally excited and happy.

Aside from taking a cruise when it’s safe, Gin has plans to share his win with his family.

“I’m 85 year’s old and there’s nothing that I need. I’m very happy,” he added.

In 2020, B.C. lottery players redeemed more than $99 million in winnings from Lotto Max.
