Bank cards stolen after night of drinking at local bar

Squamish RCMP are investigating after a man was swindled off a large sum of money after a theft of his bank cards.

On February 22, Squamish RCMP received a report of theft of bank and credit cards after a night of drinking at a local bar.

The victim returned to the hotel room, with a group of unknown individuals.

After the group left, the man realized his cards had been stolen.

A substantial amount of money was stolen, Squamish RCMP said, and the matter is currently under investigation.

Attempted theft of vehicle

On February 16, Squamish RCMP received a report of an attempted theft of a motor vehicle on Fourth Avenue.

The owner reported that an unknown person had entered their vehicle and attempted to start it with a screwdriver.

However, the individual was unsuccessful, but the vehicle sustained damaged to the ignition.

Squamish RCMP are investigating after a local residents car window was smashed on the early hours of February 14.

The vehicle was parked in the 39000 block of Government Road.

The owner awoke to find a window of their vehicle smashed and their purse, which included a large sum of money, was missing.

Police are reminding the public to remove all valuables from their vehicle, as criminals won’t hesitate to smash windows steal wallets or other properties.

    A good reason for a Hotel to have surveillance system … but does not mean that one should be stupid….. the distribution of undesirables in Squamish is no different than other towns these days… just ask the Police. And as long as the welcome matt is out they will come. Be aware.
