Paving project downtown; expect single-lane alternating traffic

Staff report
March 27, 2021 11:22am

A paving project in Downtown Squamish is likely to cause some traffic delays in the coming days.

Paving will take place on Third Avenue near Vancouver Street as well as the lane between Second and Third Avenues.

Residents can expect intermittent single-lane alternating traffic. Work continues through to April 9.

Meanwhile, a new watermain is being installed along Mamquam Road from Highlands Way South to the end of Paco Road.

This project will improve fire flows to the industrial area at the end of the Mamquam Road areas as part of a five-year implementation plan to bring flows up to industrial levels.

Please expect single-lane alternating traffic and parking restrictions at various times.

This project will begin in April and continue until May.

To allow for annual grounds maintenance at Mount Garibaldi Cemetery, please remove artificial plants and flowers and any ornamentation, such as statues or angels and loose objects such as rocks, glass, or metal items from the grave marker before March 31.

Items not removed before March 31 will be moved by staff and placed at the main gates for two weeks.

Flushing and CCTV inspection of sanitary sewers in Garibaldi Highlands is also underway through the end of March. Affected residents will receive detailed notices 48 hours in advance.

Please expect minor traffic disruptions.
