UPDATE: COVID shots available at two Squamish pharmacies for 55 to 65 age group

staff report
March 30, 2021 5:39pm

Two Squamish pharmacies have now been included in the list of pharmacies where COVID-19 shots are available for those between the age of 55 and 65.

COVID-19 shots are now available at Save on Foods and Shoppers Drug Mart in Downtown Squamish.

Appointments will be booked directly through the pharmacy.

Beginning March 31, those aged 55 to 65 in Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health regions can call their local pharmacy and book an appointment to receive their vaccine.

A partnership between Immunize BC and community pharmacists is making the AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD vaccine available to those aged 55 to 65 in VCH and Fraser Health regions.

Drop-in service may be an option at the more than 150 participating pharmacies, province said.

People must bring their personal health number, found on their BC Services Card or CareCard.

“We’re moving ahead with our immunization plan and delivering on our promise to British Columbians to move as quickly as possible, and as safely as possible, to get them the vaccines that they have been waiting patiently for,” said Adrian Dix, Minister of Health.

“We know from the millions of doses used worldwide, and especially in the U.K., it is highly effective and the benefits to those over age 55 far outweigh the very real risks of getting COVID-19,” said Dr. Bonnie Henry.

“I encourage everyone in the Lower Mainland who is between 55 and 65 years of age to receive their safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine today.”

This appears to only be available for Lower Mainland residents not residents of the entire Coastal Health region. whistler pharmacies had no information nor doses as of this morning. FYI
