Sunshine Coast resident finds grenade in garden

Staff report
April 6, 2021 2:13pm

A citizen in Sunshine Coast called police after the resident found an old grenade in the garden.

Police didn’t specify in which community on the coast this incident took place in.

Sunshine Coast RCMP said on March 30, a coast resident reported finding what appeared to be an old grenade in the garden.

Police attended and sent a photo of the object to the RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit for analysis.

The RCMP Explosive Devise Unit then directed RCMP to the joint-force military unit out of Comox, who seized the grenade to dispose it.

Police are reminding the public to call police if they ever find anything suspicious, or anything that appears to be an  explosive.
