Nanaimo woman injured in attack by wolf-dog mixes

staff report
May 25, 2021 4:49pm

A 69-year-old woman sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries after being attacked by domestic animals on a rural property south of Nanaimo.

The incident occurred at approximately 10 am on Tuesday, May 25, in South Wellington.

Police, BC Conservation, EHS and Cranberry Volunteer Fire responded and learned that wolf and domestic dog crosses on the private property had attacked the woman when she had entered the pen.

The attack was unusual behaviour by the animals as she had entered that pen several times before.

The injured woman was taken to Nanaimo airport from where she was transferred by air ambulance to Victoria.

The animals were destroyed.
