Pemberton sets heat record

June 1, 2021, was a record setting hot day in Pemberton.

According to a weather summaries released by Environment Canada, Pemberton set a new record for daily maximum temperature at 34.6 C.

The old record at 34.5 C was recorded in 1986, and records have been kept since 1908.

Other communities in the province also set a new daily heat record.

Lytton set a new record for 35.2 C, followed by Trail, Merritt, and Princeton.

“The temperature records have been derived from a  selection of historical stations in each geographic area that were active during the period of record,” according to Environment Canada.

A hot day today will be followed by a mainly cloudy Thursday with rain expected on the weekend.
