Squamish RCMP investigating 8 bike thefts

Staff report
June 22, 2021 12:09pm

Squamish RCMP started investigating eight bike thefts this past week. Bikes were taken from building storage lockers and homes.

In some instances, thieves had cut or burn the locks on bikes, while in other cases, the bike had simply been left unattended by the owner.

Squamish RCMP also investigated a series of thefts from vehicles this past week.

Thieves typically broke into cars by breaking windows or through unlocked doors. Items stolen include clothing, catalytic converter, a bike rack, a paddle board, cash, wallets, keys, and sports equipment.

Police are reminding drivers to secure their cars and remove property to prevent thefts. Police also encourage victims to report all thefts, even if they appear small by nature.

Squamish RCMP are also investigating a break-and-enter to a commercial business in the 40000 block of Glenalder Place.

The suspects gained access to the business by smashing a window. Preliminary investigation by police reveals nothing was stolen in this incident.

Police continue to investigate.
