Squamish Search and Rescue and Squamish Fire Rescue teams worked together to rescue an injured climber from Murrin Provincial Park.
Squamish SAR was called to the incident around 12:30 pm on Saturday, June 26.
BJ Chute, the Squamish SAR manager, said the climber took a ‘fairly substantial fall’ in the Nightmare Rock climbing area in Murrin park.
The climber injured his leg in the fall.
The rescue operation last for five hours, with 25 SAR members and 12 fire fighters responding to the incident.
“We were able to access him after a short hike, and then did a rope rescue to lower him and then bring him to the highway, from there he was taken to the hospital,” Chute said.
The incident, Chute said, highlighted the collaborative work between Squamish SAR, the fire rescue, and BC Paramedics.
“All local agencies work really well to collaborate to bring people back to safety,” he said.
