Accident closes Highway 99 at Alice Lake in both directions

staff report
July 5, 2021 4:49pm

The Sea to Sky Highway is closed in both directions due to an accident north of Alice Lake.

The assessment is in progress, said DriveBC in a tweet.

Please expect delays and congestion.

In an earlier tweet, the agency said the vehicle incident happened southbound near the Cheekeye River bridge, north of Squamish.

A local youth died in an accident on June 28 in the area north of Alice Lake, and three others were injured in the crash.

This situation behind this accident was horrific. Why have I not seen any investigative journalism to follow up with the details.

The public needs to be made aware of how dangerous this and other accidents are, especially on the Sea to Sky.

I’ve heard the car that caused it was doing over 210 KM an hour and was driven by a 17 year old.

Why is this not major news!?
