Rockfall shuts down climbing areas at the Stawamus Chief

A significant rock fall has shut down climbing area at the Stawamus Chief.

According to BC Parks, the rockfall was reported on July 6 from the Photophobia Buttress Area.

Climbing routes between and including Dogzilla and The White Feather are currently closed.

BC Parks is assessing the areas before taking a decision on reopening them.

The closure map of the area can be seen here.

This is the second such incident in the last one month when a rockfall has closed climbing areas at the Chief.

On June 28, the Grand Wall climbs and area at the base of the Stawamus Chief Provincial Park was closed due to a rockfall incident.

The area still remains closed.
