Crews battle new wildfire in Squamish

July 22, 2021 5:42pm

BC Wildfire crews are battling a new 0.5 hectare wildfire in Squamish.

The Upper Pit River fire started earlier in the afternoon, said Dorthe Jakobsen, a fire Information officer with the Coastal Fire Centre.

She said fire has been characterized as being out of control.

Firefighters and a helicopter has been deployed in the area to extinguish the fire.

The fire is suspected to be caused by a human.

Meanwhile, the Mill Creek fire near Woodfibre site is now under control.
