Rotary’s ‘Duck in a Truck’ fundraiser to support Squamish Youth Hub

July 28, 2021 12:12pm

At 1:00 pm on August 2, 2021, 1,000 rubber ducks will tumble out of a truck into the birling pond at the Loggers Sports grounds in Squamish.

This will be the culmination of the “Duck in a Truck” lottery fundraiser being run by the Squamish Rotary Club to support the Youth Hub, an integral part of the new Foundry Sea to Sky scheduled to open in June 2022.

The Foundry will be 5,000 square feet of newly built space for youth counselling, mental health services, and primary care along with the integrated Youth Hub – a hang-out and recreational space that will be freely open to all youth.

“Young people in our community need a safe space where they can not only meet up and have fun, but also find the help they desperately need – when they need it,” according to Sea to Sky Community Services.

The Rotary Club of Squamish will be supporting the Youth Hub with multi-year donations to fund the purchase of technology equipment, furnishings, a pool table, and recreational equipment.

The “Duck in a Truck” Lottery Fundraiser

Only 1,000 tickets are available. Each ticket buys one numbered rubber duck. On August 2, the 1,000 numbered rubber ducks will be poured out of a truck into the birling pond. Blindfolded ‘duck pluckers’ will then pick the four winning ducks out of the pond.

There are four cash prizes: $5,000, $2,500, $1500, and $500.

Tickets are available from any Rotarian and:
• online by credit card at www.squamishrotary.com
• at Save on Foods, Wednesday. July 28, 3-6 pm
• at the downtown Farmers Market, Saturday July 31, 10 am-1 pm
