Friend of a man stabbed and killed in Whistler has started a GoFundMe page.

On Saturday, August 14th, at 2 am, Henry Garcia was stabbed multiple times in an altercation while trying to taxi home to a hotel in Whistler, according to the page started by Kevin Pineda Romero.

“Unfortunately, doctors could not save him once he was admitted to the hospital. My goal is to do everything I can to support his family with funeral costs and anything they may need while mourning his loss,” Kevin said.

“Henry was one of my best friends. I had known him since we were 6 years old. He truly felt like a brother to me.”

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is calling on the public to help further its investigation into the stabbing death of a man in Whistler.

IHIT is working closely with the Sea-to-Sky RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) and the B.C. Coroners Service to gather evidence.

“Anyone who was in the area of Whistler Green between 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. is asked to contact IHIT immediately.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
