staff report
August 24, 2021 9:44am

Paving operations on Highway 99 will continue today, leading to lane closures and traffic delays.

Crews will be paving on the highway between Stawamus Chief Provincial Park and Cleveland Avenue for 3.1 km.

The paving will continue from 6 am to 6:30 pm today. There will be lane closures and drivers are being asked to watch out for traffic control.

Utility work between Mamquam Rd and Garibaldi Way is planned on Highway 99 in both directions.

This work is expected to continue until September 12. Drivers are being asked to watch for traffic control, and to expect delays.

Crews will be working on Mamquam Road and under Highway 99 with access to Mamquam Road only available to local traffic.

Construction work between Nicklaus North Blvd and Emerald Drive will continue for 4.4 kilometres until Wednesday, September 15, from 7 am to 7 pm on weekdays.

There will be single lane alternating traffic. Drivers are being reminded to watch for traffic control, and expected major delays due to congestion.

Well that’s great, BUT, can’t you do this paving at night when there is less traffic! My husband and I left Britannia beach yesterday at 130 to go to our tee time at 240, at squamish golf course, The traffic was backed up to Murrin!!
So it was a slow crawl to squamish and we didn’t get to the golf course until 330!! If this was in the lower mainland it would never have happened…they would have been told to do the paving at night by the ministry ( I know this because my husband is a retired highways maintenance supervisor)
Do the paving at NIGHT! You should not be able to hold up that much traffic…..ridiculous!

I didn’t even see signage yesterday…it should be at Britannia at least.
