Woman seriously injured in paragliding accident in Pemberton

A paraglider was taken to hospital after she sustained serious injuries in an accident in Pemberton.

On Wednesday, August 25, at approximately 3:45 pm, Pemberton RCMP were notified by a witness of a possible crash of a plane north of Pemberton, off Linda Road.

Pemberton RCMP, Pemberton Fire, BC Ambulance, and Pemberton SAR all rushed to the location and found a Powered Glider had crashed into the forest.

Pemberton SAR were able to reach the pilot, and transported her to an awaiting ambulance. She has sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries.

BC Coastal Fire were also alerted to the incident but there was no fire detected.

Pemberton RCMP continues to liaise with Transport Canada to investigate the incident.

    The rescue was done by a Bchydro crew who was working nearby and witnessed the accident. They called Blackcomb helicopters and performed a longline rescue.
