Rainfall warning for Howe Sound

staff report
September 15, 2021 11:37am

Environment Canada has issued a new special weather statement for Howe Sound

There will heavy rain on Thursday night and through Friday.

The alert has been issued for Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley, Howe Sound and Sunshine Coast.

The total rainfall accumulation is expected to be from 30 to 50 mm, and the rain is expected to continue to Friday night.

“A robust frontal system will approach the BC coast on Thursday. By Thursday night rain will begin over south coast regions with the heaviest rain expected through the day on Friday. Rain will ease overnight Friday as the frontal band passes through,” says Environment Canada.

Consider clearing leaves and debris from drainage areas as the heavy rain could pose issues with regards to potential local flooding.

To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
