Three organisations are working to provide a high-speed ferry service between Nanaimo and Downtown Vancouver.
The Nanaimo Port Authority and the Snuneymuxw First Nation is working with Conqora Capital Partners Inc. to launch the ferry between the two cities.
Conqora is a private equity firm focused on sourcing, underwriting and developing real-asset backed, direct investment opportunities.
The port authority has now entered into a long-term lease agreement with Conqora which provides access to the Nanaimo Assembly Wharf for vessel berths, welcome terminals, parking and passenger connectivity areas.
Donna Hais, Chair of the Nanaimo Port Authority, said providing infrastructure that connects Nanaimo to the rest of the world is one of the port’s mandates.
“We are excited to be able to connect people through this mode of transportation,” Donna said.
Details surrounding the new high-speed ferry service will be announced in the near future.
Snuneymuxw First Nation Chief Mike Wyse said they are delighted to announce the partnership that brings the long awaited fast-passenger ferry to the region.
“We are proud to work with Conqora and the NPA on the basis of respect and recognition for the greater good of everyone and the economy,” Mike said.
