Drunk driver injures pedestrian in Garibaldi Estates

Staff report
October 13, 2021 3:35pm

Police responded to a report of an accident in the area of Tantalus Rd. and Cheakamus Way last week in which a driver hit and injured a pedestrian.

Police arrested the driver for impaired driving and impaired driving causing bodily harm.  The man was found to have had liquor over three times the legal limit.

Police released him with driving prohibitions under the Motor Vehicle Act. He will now appear in court for impaired driving related offences.

On October 5, 2021, Squamish RCMP also responded to a report of a suspicious driver who was running stop signs downtown.

Police tried to pull over the driver who blatantly ignored the police. When police did manage to stop the driver, he was arrested for flight from police and impaired driving.

The man failed roadside tests for impaired driving, and police released him with driving prohibitions under the Motor Vehicle Act and a future court date for flight from police and dangerous operation under the Criminal Code.
