Special weather statement issued for Howe Sound

staff report
November 6, 2021 5:34pm

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Howe Sound.

Strong winds are expected to start Monday overnight through to Tuesday noon.

Strong southeast winds of 50 to 70 km/h can be expected.

Communities adjacent to the Strait of Georgia, Haro Strait, Juan de Fuca Strait and exposed coastal sections of the west coast of Vancouver Island will also be affected.

There remains some uncertainty as to the exact strength of these winds.

If the pressure system moves into Washington State or through Juan de Fuca Strait, the southeast winds will remain below warning criteria but it will still be a blustery morning.
