Squamish library to close mid-December for renovations

Staff report
November 12, 2021 1:13pm

The Squamish Public Library will close in mid-December for renovations and reopen in 2022. The exact date of reopening will be announced later.

The renovation will include a new feature wall highlighting new and recommended titles, new central service desk, a new public computer area.

A permanent exterior takeout window and improvements to staff work area are also planned.

For the renovation to proceed efficiently and safely, the library will be closed starting December 12.

Once the renovations are complete, the library will re-open in early January.

Library plans to offer several library services while the library is closed.

Items from the library will be available via our take-out service, and library staff will be working behind the scenes to assist locals and answer questions.

The library’s digital collections and services are available 24/7 with the Squamish library card.

E-books, audiobooks and magazines can be downloaded to the mobile devices using Libby.

The library also offers Kanopy, a free streaming service, LinkedinLearning, and thousands of online art and craft classes.

Does not make a lot of sense when the muni is already planning to build a new library facility. We need to be make an effort to keep tax increases below the consumer price index increases. They have not done this in the 16 years we have lived her.
