High streamflow advisory for Sea to Sky

Staff report
November 14, 2021 9:09am

The River Forecast Centre is issuing a High Streamflow Advisory for Sea to Sky, Howe Sound, Sunshine Coast, and Metro Vancouver.

Rivers are expected to rise rapidly throughout Sunday.

The public is advised to stay clear of the fast-flowing rivers and potentially unstable riverbanks during the high-streamflow period.

The heaviest rainfall is expected around Howe Sound and the Fraser Valley, with upwards of 150 mm of rainfall expected by Monday.

Heavy rain continues throughout Sunday and will ease on Monday.

Temperatures will rise through the atmospheric river, with freezing levels pushing 2000 metre elevation on Sunday.

Additional recent snowmelt is also expected to add to river runoff.
