Duffey Lake Road now open to essential traffic

Staff report
November 20, 2021 8:10am

The Duffey Lake Road between Pemberton and Lillooet is now open to essential traffic.

Checkpoints will be in place, and motorists travelling for non-essential purposes will be rerouted.

Recreational travel, including to parks and backcountry areas is not permitted, and residents should expect increased traffic on Highway 99 and through the communities in the area, cautions SLRD.

Anyone travelling on the highway should be prepared for delays with an emergency kit, food, water, warm clothes, blankets and other emergency supplies.

SLRD also reminds that there are no gas stations between Pemberton / Mt Currie and Lillooet.

Yesterday, the province implemented travel and fuel restrictions, though province says it will start easing these restrictions once the traffic backlog clears.
