District to implement partial COVID vaccine mandate for employees

Staff report
December 9, 2021 11:05am

The District of Squamish will implement a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for employees in certain public-facing roles.

District employees, contractors and volunteers will need to be vaccinated if they are in a life-saving role or delivering a recreation program where vaccinations are mandatory for those participating.

“We believe this is a policy that is measured and sensible for the community context and risk level within Squamish, considering the robust communicable disease plan that we have had in place to support and enhance provincial public health guidance and orders,” says Mayor Karen Elliott.

The community context for this policy considers the high vaccination rates in Squamish, with 91% of locals fully vaccinated and 97% vaccinated with a first dose.

District says this suggests approximately the same percentage of district employees are vaccinated.
