Heavy snow in forecast for Squamish

Staff report
December 20, 2021 5:24pm

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for Howe Sound. Heavy snow will begin on Tuesday evening and continue through to Wednesday morning.

Snow will intensify and become heavy at times on Tuesday evening. Total snowfall over 15 cm is possible by Wednesday morning.

There is also a risk of freezing rain on Tuesday night. Heavy snow will ease Wednesday morning as the system moves out of the region.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

The storm watch is also in effect for Fraser Valley, Sea to Sky Highway, and Whistler.
