Pedestrian involved car accident shuts down Highway 99

Squamish RCMP are investigating a car accident involving a pedestrian on Highway 99, about five kilometres north of Lions Bay.

The accident took place at about 2:30 pm. Police say the extent of injuries are not involved.

BC Highway Patrol Squamish, Emergency Health Services, Fire Rescue, and Miller Capilano have responded and are at scene.  Squamish RCMP has contacted the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service for further assistance.

Currently, southbound lanes are closed. However, northbound lanes open on Highway 99 in Lions Bay area.

“The investigation is in its beginning stages,” says Corporal Dallas Langley of the Squamish RCMP. “We have all the resources available to us working on this.”
