Car stolen from Downtown Squamish recovered by police

Staff report
January 4, 2022 2:04pm

Squamish RCMP are investigating a theft of a black 2004 Honda Civic from Downtown Squamish.

The theft happened sometime between December 28 and December 29 from the Chieftan Mall parking lot on Pemberton Avenue.

The car was later recovered near Third Avenue and Main Street and then returned to the owner.

On December 29, Squamish RCMP also received a report of a single car accident at Diamond Head Road and Mamquam Road.

Officers believed the driver was intoxicated, and asked her to provide breath samples which she refused.

The driver choose not provide samples, so under the Motor Vehicle Act, members served her a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition, impounded her car and ensured she had safe transportation leaving the scene.
