District urges people to avoid Loggers Lane, Paradise Valley, Mamquam FSR

Staff report
January 7, 2022 10:39am

The District of Squamish is advising residents of multiple hazardous conditions due to the freezing rain.

In particular, district is asking people to avoid Loggers Lane between the Squamish Adventure Centre and Brennan Park Recreation Centre, Paradise Valley and the Mamquam Forest Service Road.

Roads are icy and blocked by trees and branches and there are multiple power outages at the Powerhouse Springs Well and Waste Water Treatment Plant.

BC Hydro is working on restoring power and District crews are working on backup solutions.

“Please avoid non-essential travel if possible, including trail use. Please also avoid unnecessary flushing, laundry and other heavy uses of water for the time being. Further information will be posted here as available,” district says.
