Snowfall warning for Sea to Sky Highway, Whistler

Staff report
January 29, 2022 11:00am

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning in effect for Sea to Sky Highway. Snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 25 cm is expected with snow becoming heavy on Sunday.

The location of the snowfall is for Whistler and Sea-to-Sky Highway from Brandywine to Whistler. A storm system will deliver snow to the region tonight and Sunday.

Snow will begin early this evening then intensify on Sunday morning. The rain-snow line is expected to be just above Squamish tonight then progress beyond the Tantalus overlook to just south of Brandywine early Sunday.

Snowfall accumulations of up to 25 cm are possible between Brandywine and Whistler. Heavy snow will end Sunday evening. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions, the agency cautions. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
