Staff report
February 16, 2022 4:56pm

District of Squamish council will soon discuss approving a development permit for the first phase of a mixed-use development at 1940 Centennial Way near the Brennan Park Recreation Centre.

The subject property is currently vacant, but was previously the site of the Eagle Vista RV Resort and Campground and Whistlepunk Hollow Adventure mini-golf operation. The development proposes a mix of light industrial, office, childcare, and purpose-built rental housing with a mix of affordable and market rental over three buildings.

The project proposes 22 affordable and 58 market rental apartments, and 2 of these units will be secured for ECE workers. As much as 10,000 square feet of public open space is proposed in the middle of Phase 1, surrounded by the three buildings. The open space is programmed with seating throughout, several open lawn areas, playground area, picnic area, and yoga deck

This project has gone through a comprehensive development (CD) rezoning process, which sets the general parameters for the development, including siting, size, density, and massing.

This zoning was adopted in July of 2021. The district’s advisory panel design committee had made some recommendations to the proponents in a meeting last October. The committee will again discuss the project tomorrow.
