District of Squamish is asking people to please avoid the area as the Squamish Fire Rescue, emergency crews and RCMP respond to the fire in the Wigan Pier restaurant that started about one hour ago.

Good response … with that N wind the fire could have spread to who knows. The SFD did a good job and have to say “water on the fire” is the main task and seems our Hydrants were up to the task … hopefully no one was injured and the businesses will be able to recover. That Bldg was one of the first building in that area at about the same time as the Hotel … so some old memories gone for sure…. good luck..
