Horseshoe Bay Art Walk is back after a two-year hiatus this week. Nine local artists are excited to showcase their work to the community.
The Art Walk will take place this Sunday, May 15, from 11 am to 4 pm. “We are all very excited to show the work to the public in this fun event,” says artist Lil Chrzan.
The Art Walk was started in 2010 by ceramic artists Jackie Frioud and Helen Weiser as a way to showcase artwork in the northern section of West Vancouver.
The goal was to create a walkable art tour, where the public could walk and enjoy the art placed in the community.
Jackie Frioud is a founding member who lives in North Vancouver and has been making award-winning salt-glazed pottery for more than 20 years.
Helen Weiser, another founding member, is a potter living in Horseshoe Bay as well as an instructor, assistant studio manager and technician at Gleneagles Community Centre.
Tannis Turner loves to play with paint, and her most recent work explores abstract explorations and interpretations of stories.
Tam Irving, a Professor Emeritus from Emily Carr University of Art & Design, is a ceramic artist and sculptor whose work has been exhibited widely in North America and England.
Ruth Leithal studied art at University of California and paints large, semi-abstract acrylic paintings.
Tom & Andre are new to the Art Walk and make one of a kind charcuterie boards and other unique wood products using locally harvested wood.
Annette Jamieson is a jewellery artist who likes to use a variety of materials such as sterling silver, enamel, sea glass and mixed metals.
Sue Des Laurier is a painter whose work revolves around imagery. She is enraptured with colour and movement of paint on canvas.
Lil Chrzan is a landscape painter known for her use of light. Lil has recently published a coffee-table style book called ‘TOWARDS LIGHT’ which features more than eight-five landscape paintings of BC.
