Community invited to mural painting at library

Staff report
May 18, 2022 6:12am

On May 21, join Erica and Maddy Phillips of Phil Phil Studio and United Way British Columbia – Hi Neighbour Squamish behind the library to collaboratively paint your mural on the back wall of Squamish Public Library.

The mural painting starts from 10 am and will continue until 3 pm. The event will take place on Third and Main Street, besides the Squamish Public Library lot.

Erica and Maddy Phillips are mural painters and graphic designers who also happen to be sisters. They create vibrant murals that are inspired by the natural world and the community the artwork inhabits.

Working with colour, texture, pattern and shape, Erica and Maddy build abstract and graphic landscapes imagined from west coast scenery.

Over the past year, United Way British Columbia has worked with Squamish Public Library and the artists to consult with residents about what they want to see in this mural.  “Enjoy family fun, snacks, music, and collaborative painting with your families and neighbours. Please come prepared to get messy,” says the library.
