The Squamish Community Housing Society (SCHS) has concluded the search for its first Executive Director with the hiring of Matt Simpson.

Matt will be joining SCHS after a long career over the last 11 years with the Salvation Army, starting in Halifax, Nova Scotia, before moving to Vancouver and then on to New Westminster, where he has been managing the Stevenson House Shelter since 2017.

Matt brings his lengthy experience in the non-profit housing sector to help the Squamish Community Housing Society Board and the Society get established and up and running as quickly as possible.

“On behalf of the voting members of SCHS, I’d like to welcome Matt to the Society and congratulate him on his hiring, and we all look forwards to starting the work to help the Society mature into an active participant in the non-market housing community in Squamish,” said Gary Buxton, the General Manager of Community Planning and Infrastructure.

The voting members have also been active in recruitment to the Board of Directors, and expect to make an announcement shortly on appointments to the Board, completing the makeup of the Society and making it operational.
