The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken conduct of a double homicide in Whistler, and has identified the victims of the brazen day-light shooting. IHIT is identifying the victims as Satindera Gill and Meninder Dhaliwal, in effort to advance the investigation. Both victims were known to police.
As a result of the ‘dynamic response and rapid evidence collection’, Sea-to-Sky RCMP were able to locate and arrest multiple individuals in Squamish.
This is believed to have been a targeted shooting, in relation to the ongoing Lower Mainland gang conflict. IHIT is asking anyone who was in either area throughout the morning, or any associates of Gill or Dhaliwal to come forward.
“We believe this to be a targeted incident. Though this was a brazen daytime shooting in a busy village, there is not believed to be any further risk to the public, thanks to the quick response of the Sea-to-Sky RCMP members” says Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of IHIT
The two men were shot at the Sundial Boutique Hotel, which is located in the 4300 block of Sundial Crescent. One victim died on scene, while the other died as a result of injuries, a short time later after being transported to hospital. A burning vehicle believed to be associated to the shooting was located in the 3300 block of Ptarmigan Place, in Whistler, B.C.
“Anyone who was in the area of Sundial Crescent or Blueberry Drive, where the burning vehicle was located, between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. with dash camera footage is asked to contact IHIT immediately.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
