Squamish RCMP seize 14 vehicles for speeding over long weekend

Staff report
August 9, 2022 1:06pm

Over the August long weekend, BC Highway Patrol and Squamish RCMP seized 14 vehicles in a traffic enforcement blitz.

The agencies impounded the vehicles for seven days, and issued tickets for excessive speeding to drivers.

Last week, Squamish RCMP issued violation ticket to a person for driving rashly on Highway 99. The driver was part of a group of cars racing on Highway 99 and had veered into a ditch.

“Excessive speeding high risk and can accompany other penalties such as driving prohibition, driver risk premium, and insurance increase,” says Squamish RCMP.

The RCMP also reminds drivers that all occupants of a vehicle must be wearing a seat belt. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or go to the website www.solvecrime.ca
