Squamish RCMP are warning public about a man stalking young women in the community. The warning comes after police receiving two such reports since October 15.

In the first instance, on October 15, around 9 pm, a teenager was walking alone in the 1800 block of Willow Crescent when she observed a suspicious male in the park. He is described as wearing all-black clothing and a non-medical mask.

Trusting her instinct, the teenager began walking toward a populated area but the man kept following her. She called for help when she was in a safe location.

The second incident happened on October 17, around 11:30 pm in the 39000 block of Discovery Way, when a young woman was waiting for a family member to pick her up. She observed a suspicious man in the area who was wearing all-black clothing and a hoody that disguises his face.

Squamish RCMP ask that people me more aware about their surroundings when walking alone. Anyone with any information about this is asked to contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100. For more information on personal and other types of safety, go to www.nccabc.ca, or, email SQUAMISH_VICTIM_SERVICES@RCMP-GRC.GC.CA, who can connect anonymously for more resources.

Why is there an ad on the front page of our Squamish paper from a Lillooet realtor saying ‘ life is better in Lillooet’.
Doesn’t seem to be quite the right message to be sending.
