Staff report
November 15, 2022 3:28pm

Squamish RCMP are seeking public assistance in identifying a suspicious man who has been following a young woman.

On October 25, at about 7:15 am, a man appeared to be following a woman as she walked in the area of the Mamquam River Bridge on Government Rd. The same man followed the woman a second time on October 28, 2022 at about 3:15 p.m., and this time she reported to police.

On both occasions, the woman was walking when the man started following her. As she changed her walking patterns to create distance between herself and the man, the man changed his and he continued following her.

The victim provided information to allow a police artist to complete a sketch of the suspicious male.

The man is described as a Caucasian man, about 5’6 -5’7 tall, has a salt-and-pepper beard, is somewhat heavy build, looked dishevelled. He was carrying an umbrella and wore black clothing.

Squamish RCMP is glad the woman reported to this to police, says Corporal Angela Kermer of Sea to Sky RCMP. “We continue work on this file, and ask community to report anything suspicious and we will follow up to ensure a sense of personal and community safety.”

Squamish RCMP asks anyone with any information regarding the above file or any crime to contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100
