The District has received a Development Permit application for a brewery with an indoor tasting room and an outside tasting area in Brackendale. The Hop Creek brewery is proposed at 41060 Government Road, across from the dike, near the Easter Seals camp in Brackendale.
According to the proponents, the site is one of the few properties within the Agricultural Land Reserve within Squamish. Hop Creek Farms, with an onsite farm store, currently operates from the property.
The proposed brewery is designed to look like two large grain silos comprising of a brewing space and tasting room, connected by a covered patio space. The brewing silo will contain brewing equipment, including a bar that will allow small group tasting sessions and education about the brewing process. The tasting room silo will contain a bar with products from the brewery and a covered patio for year-round destination.
According to the proponents, the building will be ‘nestled’ into the farm and hidden by existing trees and shrubbery along the perimeter of the property. A trail network is also proposed from the North to the South edge of the property, connecting the site to the Siyích’em Reserve river access at the South, and Brackendale community to the North.
As many as 31 parking spaces are being proposed at the brewery.
