Three in hospital after collision on Sea to Sky Highway

Staff report
January 9, 2023 7:21pm

Three people are in hospital following a collision involving two cars on the Sea to Sky Highway in Britannia Beach. The highway was temporarily closed but has since reopened.

In a press release, Squamish RCMP said they responded to the two-car collision around 4 pm. The collision  happened on Britannia Creek Bridge, and one passenger was trapped inside the car. Policed needed to close the highway due to the smashed-up cars and debris. The air ambulance landed in a nearby gravel pit and took a woman with unknown injuries to a Lower Mainland hospital.  Two more people were injured and taken to the hospital, though the extend of their injuries is not known at this point.

“This was a collective effort by not only first responders, but folks who were first on scene,” says Corporal Angela Kermer, Sea to Sky RCMP. “We continue to follow up to determine what happened.”

Anyone with any information can contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or go to the website www.solvecrime.ca
