Man arrested after driving Dodge Ram into ditch on Highway 99; police seek video

staff report
June 5, 2023 2:01pm

Police in Pemberton are seeking assistance from drivers who may have dashcam footage of a man involved with multiple driving offences under the Motor Vehicle Act and Criminal Code.

On May 24, around 6 pm, Sea to Sky RCMP Whistler received multiple reports of an erratic driver who was travelling northbound on Highway 99 from Whistler.  The driver was driving a grey Dodge Ram 1500 crew cab truck, with BC license plate number PG 885A. Around 6:30 pm, a Sea to Sky RCMP Pemberton member found the truck in a ditch on Highway 99 at Vine Rd.

The driver needed medical attention for unknown injuries but was released from hospital shortly after admission. Police didn’t say if he was impaired. Once medically cleared, members arrested the man for a number of offences and released him with a future court date.  Police now appeal to Sea to Sky Highway drivers for dashcam footage to help assist the investigation.

“Fortunately, no one other than the driver was injured.  The police investigation continues, and includes us asking for help from community by way of dashcam footage,” says Corporal Angela Kermer, Sea to Sky RCMP.  If anyone was on Highway 99 between Whistler and Pemberton during the above time and date and had a dash camera in operation, please contact us.”

Sea to Sky RCMP Pemberton RCMP asks anyone with any information regarding the above or any file to contact the Pemberton detachment at 604-894-6634, or, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or go to www.solvecrime.ca
