Heavy snow in forecast for Sea to Sky Highway, Whistler

staff report
March 6, 2024 8:10pm

A special weather statement is in effect for the Squamish and the Sea to Sky regions.

For Whistler and the Sea-to-Sky highway, significant snowfall begins Thursday night and continues into Friday as temperatures remain cool. Heavy snow may continue into Saturday, according to a new weather alert issued by Environment Canada. For northern parts of Metro Vancouver and Howe Sound, wet snow is expected beginning Thursday overnight. A significant warm-up is expected Friday morning, which will bring a quick transition to rain.

Prepare for rapidly changing weather conditions, as the timing of the snowfall can potentially impact the Friday morning commute, warns the agency. Road conditions are available at drivebc.ca. Wet rain is also in the forecast for Metro Vancouver, Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, and Howe Sound.
