One dead after late-night stabbing near Downtown Victoria

staff report
April 10, 2024 9:34am

Victoria Police is investigating a fatal stabbing on Douglas Street near Downtown Victoria.

Late last night, Victoria Police Department (VicPD) patrol officers rushed to the 2900-block of Douglas Street following a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they discovered a man with stab wounds. Despite the efforts of both officers and B.C. Emergency Health Services paramedics to administer immediate medical aid, the victim tragically passed away due to his injuries.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection to the incident. Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) investigators are urging anyone with pertinent information to reach out to the VIIMCU Information Line at (250) 380-6211. They stress that this event appears to be an isolated occurrence, reassuring the public that there is no ongoing threat to community safety.

Details surrounding the case remain undisclosed as VIIMCU continues its investigation. Wednesday morning saw investigators still present at a strip mall situated near the intersection of Douglas Street and Burnside Road.

Outside Palagio Pizza at 2950 Douglas St., police and paramedics joined forces in providing emergency medical assistance to the victim. Despite their efforts, the individual could not be saved, according to statements from the Victoria Police Department.
