An accident on the Sea to Sky Highway sent two people to hospital on Monday, May 20.
In a brief statement, BC Emergency Services said first responders received a call about a motor vehicle incident at 2:53 p.m. on May 20, 2024, which led to the deployment of four ground ambulances and one air ambulance to the scene. Paramedics arrived and provided crucial emergency medical care to the victims. According to paramedic public information officer Brian Twaites, one patient was transported to the hospital via air ambulance, while another was taken by ground ambulance.
Further details regarding the patients’ conditions have not been released.
This is the second major incident the BC Emergency Health Services have responded to in the last two weeks. On May 10, first responders were called to an accident involving a motorcyclist. An Air ambulance, an Advanced Care Paramedic ambulance, and two Primary Care Paramedic ambulances responded to the accident near Britannia Beach.
According to ICBC, over the Victoria Day long weekend, an average of two people are killed, and 480 people are injured in crashes in the Province, with speed being a top contributing factor in these crashes.
