This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Resham and Darshan Lalli Memorial Scholarship scholarship at Howe Sound Secondary School. This year’s scholarship was awarded to Sasha O’Connor. The scholarship is awarded to the athlete of the year with the best GPA.

The scholarship was started by Paul Lalli, a former city Councillor, to remember the hard work and contributions his parents made.

“Originally it was started to remember my father Resham who believed in hard work, good education and love of sports.  My dad was a student-athlete in India and played Field Hockey and was on the Punjab select team,” says Coun. Paul Lalli.

Later on in years, my mom’s name was added to remember and memorialize her hard work, contributions, and legacy “My parents were loving parents who loved their kids, the town of Squamish, and the people of Squamish.  I loved them so much, and I miss and think of them every day,” Lalli said.

I’m so sorry to hear of your daughter, Paul. It’s just too close to home not to have an emotional response. My granddaughters were very familiar, and I can remember your proud days. I have the best thoughts. Cheers, Don Patrick family.
