Single-lane closure on Cleveland Ave; expect delays

Residents should anticipate higher-than-normal traffic volumes and plan for potential delays.

The District of Squamish announces two infrastructure projects impacting local traffic over the coming weeks.

Firstly, CN Rail has scheduled temporary single-lane closures at the Cleveland Avenue crossing in downtown Squamish. These closures will occur intermittently over the next week as crews undertake essential upgrade work. Residents and visitors should anticipate higher-than-normal traffic volumes and plan for potential delays and detours near the work areas.

In a separate project, the District of Squamish is upgrading approximately 200 meters of undersized water main on Tantalus Road, with work continuing through June 28. This project will necessitate single-lane alternating traffic during working hours, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and temporarily disrupt on-street parking within the construction zone.

Additionally, residents can expect minor construction noise and increased activity from heavy machinery and construction personnel. Two trees near the corner of Tantalus Road and Starview Place will be removed as part of the water main installation. The District plans to replace these trees at a 2:1 ratio near the removal area.
