Three drivers were fined and had their vehicles impounded following a dangerous street racing incident on Highway 99 in West Vancouver.

Last month, a West Vancouver police officer observed three vehicles travelling at high speed on Highway 99 near Westmount Road.  The officer estimated the vehicles’ speeds to be more than 160 km/h, later confirmed by radar to be 178 km/h. With the assistance of another officer, the group was safely pulled over.

The drivers received violation tickets for excessive speeding, and their vehicles were impounded for one week.

“This type of behavior is incredibly dangerous and puts members of the public at risk,” said Sgt. Chris Bigland of the West Vancouver Police Department. “Given the recent spate of tragic accidents, both here in West Vancouver and throughout the province, we implore drivers to obey the speed limit and drive responsibly.”

The drivers should lose their licences for life, and have to witness their cars getting shredded.

    Plus a minimum $250,000 fine
