The Tiger Bay Development Corporation is requesting a three-year temporary use permit to establish a private skateboard training facility and support commercial film production near the Sea to Sky Highway in Britannia Beach.

The proposed skateboard facility, intended for Canada Skateboard, the official National Sports Federation for skateboarding, would provide a private training ground for athletes. The facility would be housed in a 7,500-square-foot tent. The site would be accessible only to ten national athletes, with training sessions involving a few people at a time.

In addition to the skateboard facility, Tiger Bay is also requesting temporary set construction for commercial film productions. These sets would vary based on the needs of individual films and would be built on multiple properties outlined in the development plans.

The skateboard facility would not rely on local groundwater or sewage disposal systems. Instead, sanitary services will include portable toilets, and athletes will bring water. The developers plan to coordinate with a nearby facility, Outbound Station if additional water is required.

No specific water or sanitary services are planned for the film production component, as each production crew will address the needs per Worksafe BC and other industry regulations. Any access permits for the facility and film crews will be coordinated with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) as necessary. The permit also requires approval from the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority to ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations.

The skateboard facility will be private, closed to the public, and reserved exclusively for training skateboarders. The site is currently zoned as Rural Resource 3, which does not permit a skateboard facility or commercial film set construction.
